Maria Calivis - Regional Director , CEE/CIS

Since 2004, Ms. Calivis has served as UNICEF’s Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States in Geneva, Switzerland. Prior to her appointment as Regional Director, Ms. Maria Calivis served as UNICEF Representative in New Delhi, India and held various positions for UNICEF in Lebanon, West Bank and Gaza, Guinea, Tunisia, and New York. Before joining UNICEF, Ms Calivis was a Training Officer at Gestione e Partecipazione Industriale (GEPI) in Rome, Italy. Ms. Calivis is a national of Italy.　 She holds a B.A. in Political Science from the American University, Cairo, Egypt, an MA in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (USA), and an MS in Social Policy and Planning from the London School of Economics (UK).
