Sara Hommel is the director of the Early Child
Development Initiative at the Wolfensohn Center for Development at
the Brookings Institution in Washington D.C. where her work focuses
on strategies for scaling up and sustaining Early Child Development
programs and policies in the developing world. She joined the
Wolfensohn Center in 2005 from the Economic Studies program at the
Brookings Institution. Her background is in human development, with
focus on post-conflict and developing regions. She previously worked
with NGOs focused on children living in conflict and poverty in
Bosnia Herzegovina, Croatia, and Albania. She holds degrees in
Sociology, Political Science and International Relations from St.
Lawrence and Central European Universities.
