Tatjana Koķe, dr. habil. paed., professor of Adult
Education at the University of Latvia, Director of the doctoral
study programme in pedagogy and
Doctoral Council member in Pedagogy. Her pedagogic activities
encompass master and doctoral programmes – lecturing, supervising
and reviewing master and PhD thesis. Under T. Koķe’s supervision 11
students have earned their PhD degree in pedagogy since 1998.
She is also Corresponding Member of the Latvian Academy of
Sciences, Board member of European Adult Education Association and
of Latvian Adult Education Association. Since 2005 she is a Member
of the UNESCO’s Council of
International Bureau of Education in Geneva, Switzerland. Since
December 2007 she holds the position of the Minister of Education
and Science of the Republic of Latvia, prior to that, since April
2006, T. Koķe was the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry
of Education and Science.
Her research interests are focused on democratization of
education system in the context of lifelong and lifewide learning
and aspects of developing learning society.. T. Koķe has published
57 scientific articles, 22 thesis and two monographs; one of
them is devoted to C. G. Jung’s ideas implementation at nowadays
school.
She has been a guest lecturer at different European universities
in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Lithuania and Switzerland.
As a key note speaker she has been invited to different
conferences held by UNESCO, Association for Teacher Education in
Europe (ATEE), Children’s Identity and Citizenship in Europe (CICE)
and other.
