Audrey
Osler, Director of the Centre for Citizenship and Human
Rights Education (CCHRE) and Research Professor (University of
Leeds)
Audrey Osler is founding director of the interdisciplinary Centre
for Citizenship and Human Rights Education. In 2007, she was
Visiting Scholar at the University of Washington in Seattle. Prior
to joining the University of Leeds, she was Professor of Education,
sub-Dean and Director of Research in the Faculty of Education at the
University of Leicester (1999-2004) and before that she was
lecturer, then senior lecturer, at the University of Birmingham.
Professor Osler holds an MA in History and Education from the
University of Leeds and a PhD in Education from the University of
Birmingham. She has acted as an expert for the Council of Europe and
for the European Commission.
Professor Osler's research focuses on the socio-cultural contexts
of learning and on education policy as it relates to questions of
equity and human rights. She is currently co-authoring a book
entitled 'Teachers and Human Rights Education' to be published by
Trentham Books in 2009. Her current research focusses on childrens
perspectives
