MMS 2007
Mediterranean Microwave Symposium
Microcoll
MMS and
12th Microcoll Conference
14-16 May, 2007

DCInvitation

It is already a tradition that in every fourth year international conferences are organized in Budapest in the field of microwave and optical communications. In 2007 a complete week will be devoted to these events. It will comprise five meetings with complementary topics.

The 7th Mediterranean Microwave Symposium will be a forum for its traditional topics like wave propagation, antennas, circuits and devices, theory, technology and applications of microwaves and photonics.

The 12th Microcoll (Colloquium on Microwave Communications) will be focused on the hardware and software aspects of mobile and terrestrial microwave/millimeter wave as well as lightwave communication systems.

The 18th International Conference on Electromagnetic Fields and Materials (EMFM former ICMF) will comprise contributions mainly on the theory and technology of ferromagnetic, ferroelectric, dielectric materials and applications.

These conferences are sponsored by many major international technical societies like IEEE, MTT-S, EuMA, URSI, etc.

In the same week two further meetings will be held in the framework of the European ISIS Network of Excellence project: Workshop on “Optical Technologies for Broadband Access” and Summer School on "Broadband Architectures and Functions". Both events are open for every interested colleague for contributions and/or participation.

Due to the broad, complex technical program every expert working in the Mobile Optical Wireless (MOW) area will find interesting subjects in the framework of this conference week. I encourage you to contribute to and participate in that special event.

I am convinced that you will enjoy the friendly atmosphere of the meetings and the social events especially the banquet with attractive surprises.

Tibor Berceli

On behalf of the organizers

DCCall for Papers

Prospective authors are invited to submit their papers describing new and original results on the topics listed above for consideration by the International Technical Programme Committee.

The oral or poster papers have to be written in English. The authors are responsible for obtaining publication approval from their employer. All mails will be sent to the correspondence address indicated in the first page of the paper. All papers must be presented in English. No simultaneous interpretation will be available.

PREPARATION OF PAPERS

All authors must submit the following electronic version of the 4 page paper (including a maximum 35 word abstract) in PDF format, submitted via the following link.

The first page should begin with the paper title centered in capitals followed by one line space, then the authors' names, affiliations and the corresponding author's complete return address, telephone and fax numbers and e-mail addresses, followed by two line spaces before the main text. If a paper has multiple authors from different organisations, each author's name and address should be listed separately after the title.

35 Word abstract – The abstract should be typed after the authors' names and affiliations.

Paper text – The paper must not exceed four pages in length including everything, title, abstract, equations, figures and references. If the paper is accepted it will be printed in the archival technical digest exactly as submitted. Authors should therefore follow the formatting instructions below in preparing their papers:

For A4 (210 x 297 mm), 2 cm margins top and bottom and 2 cm margins left and right.

The main text of the paper should be formatted in one column, commencing with the abstract and concluding with numbered references in IEEE format. No fonts smaller than 10 pt should be used, and 12 pt Times New Roman font is preferred for the main text. Avoid non-standard fonts in PDF. Please do not use page numbering.

Location

Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is an economic, financial and cultural centre with two million inhabitants. The city, which is beautifully situated on both sides of the river Danube, has a 2000 year old history. There are ruins from the times of the Roman Empire as well as from the Middle Ages. Its main characteristics reflect the atmosphere of the end of the 19th century when the millennium of the Hungarian State was celebrated. There are lots of museums, theatres, and concert halls, plenty of restaurants and other places of amusement. Several baths offer the pleasure of thermal waters of various medicinal springs. Budapest, as a traffic junction, can easily be reached by air, train, car or hydrofoil. For more information about Budapest, please visit:

Transportation

Participants arriving at terminals (Ferihegy 2A or Ferihegy 2B) of Budapest International Airport are advised to use the Airport Minibus shuttle service which takes one to any address in Budapest for a fee of 2300 HUF/person (cca 9 EUR, at the time of printing). As an alternative, one can use public bus service (line 200) which connects both terminals with the underground (metro) line 3 (blue line). The blue line of the metro has a stop at "Népliget" bus terminal and "Nyugati" railway station. Taxis to or from the city cost approximately 4000–4500 HUF (16–20 EUR) for a one way trip. Car rentals are available at the airport. Public transportation network.

Passport, Visa

All foreign visitors must have a valid passport. The visa policy of Hungary is liberal. For visits shorter than a month, no visa is required for citizens of most European countries, the United States, Japan and Israel. Most European citizens can visit Hungary with their domestic identity card. Agreements of the Republic of Hungary on abolition of visa requirements are available on the internet. Visa is required for visitors from most Asian countries, and most states of NIS. Please note that Hungary is a new member state of the EU from the 1 May, 2004. However, Hungary is not yet a member of the Schengen agreement, so the Schengen visa is NOT valid. If you need visa to enter Hungary please start the arrangement 3 months prior to your travel. Please make sure to check any changes in your visa regulation at the consulate. The list of Hungarian missions can be found on the Internet on the web site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Please also read the criteria provided by the Consular Service of the Republic of Hungary. If you need a confirmation letter about your planned attendance in the conference to obtain visa, please contact the conference secretariat. This, however, cannot be considered as a commitment on behalf of the organisers to provide any financial support.

Foreign Exchange, Banking Facilities

The Hungarian currency is the Hungarian Forint (HUF). Currency exchange booths are available at the airport terminals, railway stations, travel agencies, banks and various places in the city. Traveller’s cheques and convertible currency may be exchanged at these facilities. Major credit cards are usually accepted in most hotels, restaurants and certain shops in the city. Obtaining cash against ATM or credit cards is very easy from the ATM cash machines that can be found at almost each bank office, hotel or on the street. Click here to see the actual exchange rates.
